You can do the following with your shapes: You can even draw shapes with your highlighter tool now. You no longer need the shapes tool to draw shapes in GoodNotes! Just draw and hold, exactly the way you do it in Notability.

Snap to Other Shapes should more accurately be Snap to Other Strokes.

The shapes tool has options you can turn on: You can change the fill colour for some shapes. It can Fill Colour your shapes with the same colour as the shape. The shapes tool in GoodNotes supports regular and irregular shapes, as well as arrows. On the far right side of the toolbar, you can choose the size for your eraser from the three available options.В These are fixed and canвЂ™t be changed. It saves you the time youвЂ™d otherwise waste switching tools in the app. In GoodNotes, you can choose to:ДЄuto-Deselect automatically switches back to the tool you were using before the eraser. You can Clear Page to erase everything you have added to your page (annotations, text boxes). Another tap on it (when itвЂ™s already selected) opens it for customisation. One tap on the eraser selects it for use in the app. You can straighten your highlights by turning on the Draw in a Straight Line option to make them look neater. The highlighter goes behind your ink making your notes pop out. Some people use this zoom tool feature to improve how their handwriting looks in the app. When set to auto-advance in the appвЂ™s settings, the zoom window automatically moves as you take your notes.В The zoom window starts on the margin you set when youвЂ™re using auto-advance. The zoom window has navigation arrows on the right sideВ for moving the window on the page and icons on the left for creating a margin for your page. The zoom tool lets you add tiny handwritten notes to fit more information on a page. I never thought I could ever say this, but the handwriting experience in GoodNotes is now as good as the one in Notability, if not better. There is no lag and palm rejection is excellent. The handwriting experience in GoodNotes has improved dramatically since iPadOS 13. GoodNotes has made the pen tool feel as natural as possible.

If that is your preferred inking experience, you will enjoy using the Brush pen.ДЇor the Fountain pen, you can calibrate the Tip Sharpness to make it Round or Sharp. At maximum pressure sensitivity, the more pressure you apply on your Apple Pencil, the thicker your strokes become.

The more pressure sensitivity you allow, the more realistic your pen strokes become. Pressure sensitivity makes your handwriting experience more realistic. It has five levels (Min-Max) and these are measured in percentages. LetвЂ™s hope in the future we will be able to add more.ДЇor your Brush and Fountain pens, you can set Pressure Sensitivity. This is especially inconvenient for your pens because it means you have to replace one of the three thicknesses to use a fourth pen thickness in the app. On your toolbar, you can only have three pen colours and three thicknesses at a time. You can adjust them to the exact thickness you need. Your pen sizes are in millimetres (from 0.1mm to 2.0mm). In GoodNotes, you can rearrange your palette colours. You can add colours using a Hex code, colour wheel or just pick one from the palette above the Hex code. You can Edit your Pen Colour to add more colours to the palette or remove those you donвЂ™t want. You can customise your pens at the far right end of the toolbar to change their colour and thickness. GoodNotes has three different pen types ( fountain, ball and brush). It has three paper colours ( white, yellow and dark) to choose from. GoodNotes supports many paper sizes ( A3-A4, Letter, Tabloid and GoodNotes Standard). You can choose a notebook cover for the notebook to have a beautiful thumbnail on the homepage. The app creates a notebook using the default template youвЂ™ve set in your settings.ДЄ new Notebook takes a bit more time to create. Creating a QuickNote is the fastest way to get started in GoodNotes. On the homepage, you can create a new Notebook or a QuickNote to start taking notes in the app.
